Well, you won't have to contain your excitement much longer (okay, we're done): The Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina just announced that Boxyard RTP will be opening in 2020 with 15,000-square-feet of space for food and beverage vendors, retailers, and events—all built from re-purposed shipping containers.
The complex will be on the Frontier RTP campus on Highway 54 near T.W. Alexander Drive. Here's what you can expect:
“Experimental food, libations and retail, cool programming and event opportunities will flip the energy switch for RTP and our neighborhood communities,” says Scott Levitan, president and CEO of the Research Triangle Foundation. In other words, RTP is about to get really cool.
They're targeting a spring 2020 opening. In the meantime, check out some images of other shipping container buildings around the country to get a sense of the vibe, including Boxyard Tulsa, where this project got its name and inspiration.
