Live & Local: Roots Fest is a totally free, totally awesome way to explore Hillsborough Street. Celebrating the roots of North Carolina’s robust arts and music scene, 2017’s Roots Fest is primed to be the best one yet. Between two music stages, they’ll be featuring a diverse array of local, kickass bands (think everything from Rock to Caribbean dance), with craft vendors, merchants, and community art projects lining the streets around them. Lonerider Brewing is also bringing their A-game with tons of beer tents. Everything is family, (kiddies even get their own Kids Zone, those lucky ducks) bike and dog-friendly. Oh, and there’s tons of free parking at NC State so getting there is a breeze. So mark your calendars for September 23 and get ready for this celebration of all things local — you won’t want to miss it!

Expertly Curated Live Music

Roots Fest is all about the music so they’ve got not one, but TWO stages set up for live jams all day. They’re filling those stages with the best up-and-coming local bands to rep all of NC’s favorite genres. From blues to bluegrass and beyond, you’ll get to hear a kickass roster of diverse bands — get those dancin’ shoes ready! Ike Stubblefield (he’s played with with Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton and Al Green — just to name a few) is headlining the mainstage and bringing along some equally impressive friends for an exclusive, one-night-only performance.
