At Happy+Hale, they know life is complicated, and they wanted food to be healthy and simple for everybody involved—because, honestly, we all feel better when we're healthy! Try their fresh-pressed juice, munch on a salad, or chomp down on a wrap chock full of (mostly) local produce. You'll feel like a superhero after just one mouthful of any Happy+Hale, I promise. One of my favorite juices is the "Pineapple Express" with pineapple, cilantro, lime and young ginger root. The juices are brightly colored and all-natural. They never contain added sugars, just organic fruits and vegetables. Ask Happy and Hale to hold the cheese and you'll have a perfect paleo salad. I enjoy the "Big Salad" with spinach, mesculin, roasted sweet potato, caramelized onion, bacon, avocado and chia seed balsamic vinaigrette.
Happy+Hale owners Matt Whitley and Tyler Helikson met at NC State University. They lost touch after school, but following a few random, yet serendipitous meetings, they reconnected—and saw an opportunity to improve the world, starting on a corner in downtown Raleigh. They began delivering salads on a tricycle, and the rest is history (in the making). In 2014, Matt and Tyler opened their flagship store in the always exciting City Plaza on Fayetteville Street.
