The name of this small Tuscan style restaurant hails from a medieval horseback competition held in the town of Siena and revered throughout the nation. Located inside the lobby of the Siena Hotel (of course!), it does its namesake justice. Il Palio brings together the best of Italy and North Carolina, or in their words, "We cook as an Italian might in North Carolina." What's truly prize-worthy about Il Palio comes from the source of the restaurant's fare. They boast that the majority of their products come from around the area in order to serve the freshest food possible (which does mean that their dishes are subject to availability). The only ingredients they don't keep local are the ones that come straight from Italy, such as their pasta, special cheeses, and truffles! Due to the cozy accommodations and the richness of their food, we'd recommend Il Palio for special occasions. Being attached to Siena Hotel, they're conveniently open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
