Ride the Human-Powered Pub Bike
The best way to do a bar crawl in Durham! Not only do you get to drink at each bar you visit, you also BYOB to drink on the bike. Yes, pedaling is involved, but we promise it's worth it.
Bike bars are a new fad, and sure enough one has popped up in Durham. Though it's referred to as a "bar on wheels," Biker Bar NC doesn't actually serve alcohol onboard. Instead, the riders supply their own drinks (no hard liquor, but wine and beer are a-ok) and snacks. The bike itself seats 14 and runs on sweat—the riders collectively pedal the trolley from bar to bar, while the captain steers and blasts loud music from your phones (bring a good playlist!). Riders get to choose 3 or 4 bars to check out and each route begins and ends at Bull City Burger and Brewery, at 107 E. Parrish St.
Word to the wide: NC law forbids riders from exiting the bike with an open container, so be careful where you step! Oh, and you're going to be drinking a lot, so snacks are a definitely a must. We recommends some Bulls Nuts from BCBCC. Also, to maximize your time on the bike, have all the members of your group print and sign the waivers. Yes, it's a pain. Yes, it's necessary. A standard, 2-hour bike ride is usually $23 per person (check out more info here
). And let the good times roll!
