Clocking in at 11 miles roundtrip, the moderate Volunteer Trail is the longest trek in Long Hunter State Park.

You don't need to head to East Tennessee for a long hike and camping—we have both right here in the Nashville Metro area. More specifically, the moderate Volunteer Trail in Long Hunter State Park is a five and a half mile one-way trek that leads to primitive backcountry camping sites. The majority of the path follows the shore of Percy Priest Lake and features mossy hillsides, majestic trees and abundant spring wildflowers. You may even spot red fox, bobcat and deer!

To access the trail, turn off Bakers Grove Road and park at the end of the road after taking a left at the "tee." All turns are well signed.
