Hike the Couchville Lake Loop at Long Hunter State Park
Today, 6:00a - 9:00p
Have a free afternoon? Head to Long Hunter Park to walk or run on scenic paved paths. Just don't forget to keep your eyes open for deer and other wildlife!
This state park is conveniently located in Hermitage, 25 miles from the heart of Nashville. The highlight of the sprawling grounds? Couchville Lake, a place to find peace and quiet among the hustle and bustle of city life. Let the water renew your soul by spending an afternoon hiking 'round the two-mile paved lakeside trail. Stop often to check out the plaques that line the trail and learn about the unique trees and wildlife that live in the park. If you're a yogi at heart, pause for a moment on the wood bridge over the water to strike a tree pose (namaste!).
Whatever the season, this state park is a perfect getaway—even if it's just for an afternoon! Take a dip in Bryant Grove, go boating or fishing in Percy Priest Lake that borders the park, rent a canoe on Couchville Lake, or trek The Jones Mill Mountain Bike Trail on two wheels! With over 25 miles of trails, this is guranteed to become one of your favorite outdoor spots. Pro tip: there are a few trails where dogs are not permitted, so check the website before planning your trip.
