The Duke Homestead is a living and breathing display of what Durham and the Duke family's estate looked like centuries ago. You'll see an authentic "living museum of tobacco history," learn about farming and manufacturing tobacco, an essential mainstay of NC's economy, and tour the Duke family's restored home, factory, curing barn and pack house. Washington Duke's sons later founded The American Tobacco Company, which turned out to be the largest tobacco company in the world. The Tobacco Museum exhibits traces tobacco history from Native American times to the present. History buffs, you're about to have a field day.
