Get Rowdy at the Pinhook: Amen Dunes / Weyes Blood / Xander Duell
Amen Dunes' Love took close to a year and a half, 16 musicians, and five different studios to COMPLETE. It was a song cycle that required broad experimentation before it was clear what was essential underneath the surface. In that process, much of the sound that might have made it onto the album was lost. There was just too much to say for one record.
The above teaser is the perfect epitaph for this Durham staple, but we hope it never ever ceases. The Pinhook has a bar with various cocktails and great brews for a killer price, but it's the whacky interior—a giant spider, free-for-all dance poles, glitter, a mural of a panda holding a beer and shooting rainbows from its mouth (yep)—and the hyper-energy events that keep it in our hearts. If it isn't a concert, it's a dance party, and we're just gonna put it out there—the parties are even bigger, better, and wilder than the shows. Grab some dancy friends, a sick pair of kicks, and vogue the night away (with a beer can in hand, of course)!
