Get Refreshed with the Byrrh to Eternity at Neptune's
Today, 8:00p - 2:00a
The Byrrh to Eternity is the Negroni redux with a couple of incredibly tasty modifications, and, yes, this drink has a taste as timeless as its name.
The Byrrh (pronounced "beer") to Eternity is a great variation on the classic Negroni—masterfully crafted with anejo tequila, Campari, Byrrh Grand Quinquina, and an orange twist. The difference between the Byrrh and a Negroni is the superbly aged tequila substituted for gin, and the addition of Byrrh instead of an Italian sweet vermouth. Byrrh is a French wine aperitif bittered with cinchona bark that gives it a fruitier backbone than a vermouth such as Carpano Antica which is commonly used in Negronis.
Neptune's has an awesome laid-back, casual vibe, especially on week nights. Expect excellent cocktails and no pretension. A group can get a round of light beers, Fireball shots, or a couple of craft cocktails and no one feels out of place. Plus, Neptune's always has a fantastic original cocktail menu. I recommend going before 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays to sample cocktails, though—it gets pretty packed with the weekend party crowd.
About Neptune's Parlour:
Tucked away beneath Kings in the lower depths of 14 W. Martin Street, Neptune's Parlour is a subterranean bar in downtown Raleigh. You can always count on being able to find a fine selection of tasty draft beers from small brewers in North Carolina (and a couple from elsewhere) and well made cocktails with a focus on fresh ingredients and flavors. Drink specials change with the weather since Neptune's only uses local ingredients when they’re at their best. The dance scene is always gyrating well into the wee hours, too. If you can't feel the beat, don't worry—you can always play classic arcade games and pinball while everybody's favorite song plays in the background.
