Enjoy the nature and tranquility of Dorothea Dix Park as certified yoga instructor Dana Lindquist leads you through yoga poses to increase strength and flexibility. All fitness levels are welcome!
The 2nd and 4th Wednesday's will be a slow flow yoga, suitable for all.
April 18, May 2, May 16 and May 30 will be Yin Yoga. Yin Yoga involves deep stretching, targeting connective tissue (fascia) and ligaments. Many of the poses, like child's pose and reclining twist, are seated or prone. Gravity, time and calm, deliberate breathing allow for deep release of tension and disengagement of muscles. Yin is a wonderfully restorative practice for runner, bikers, and cross trainers of all sorts. Though it's great for athletes, it requires no prior athletic training or ability and is beneficial to all.
Bring a yoga mat, if you have one, a towel and a filled water bottle. Water is not available in the park. There are port-a-johns available, but they may be a significant walk from the yoga location.
Although this is a free program, registration is strongly encouraged. In case of inclement weather, the organizer will email all registered participants.
