Get Cultured at the Nasher Museum of Art
Today, 10:00a - 5:00p
Looking for a museum that makes fine art accessible to art novices? If so, then Nasher is the place to be! Oh, and don't worry if you aren't an art rookie, they have plenty to see.
The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke houses over 10,000 pieces of art in their permanent collection, which is augmented by rotating exhibits. The museum's collection is strong in four main areas: medieval art, art of the Americas (largely pre-Columbian), classical antiquities, and modern and international contemporary art. Plus, getting cultured has never been so budget friendly! For regular museum entrance, expect to pay $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for non-Duke students with student ID.
Going to an art museum can be a little intimidating, but Nasher is extremely accessible for fine art novices. You can snag an audio guide at the museum or download one
to your phone before you head ove. If audio guides aren't your thing then take a free one hour tour on Thursdays at 6p or Sundays at 2p (don't worry, you don't need reservations). Finally, don't forget to check out the Cafe at Nasher if you get hungry. They always have interesting dishes and a well-curated wine list.
