Explore the Enchanted Lost Creek Falls & Cave
Today, 6:00a - 8:00p
After a short .2 mile hike, you'll find a 40' waterfall. And if you've got the guts, go for the glory by hiking through Lost Creek Cave and discovering another towering waterfall!
Sparta is a scenic town about an hour and a half from Nashville that's full of a few of nature's wonders, including Lost Creek Falls. This .2 mile trail in Lost Creek State Natural Area is short and sweet. After arriving at the parking area, you'll walk down a moderately trafficked trail of easy terrain to a cascading 40' waterfall.
To get to Lost Creek Cave, follow the blue markers. Once inside, large boulders make it difficult to maneuver, especially with little ones. Lost Creek Cave is one of the largest cave systems in the state with seven miles of passages to explore. Pro tip: the caves are closed in colder temps for bat hibernation, look for them to open around April or May each year.
Fun fact: several scenes from Disney's The Jungle Book were filmed in this area. Film makers were attracted to the flora and fauna that cover the base of the falls in the spring and summer months.
