Crave Caribbean at Calypso Cafe (100 Oaks)
Today, 11:30a - 8:30p
A quick-service restaurant with healthy fare? This gem is a haven for veg heads (and those that may just go meatless on Mondays)!
With three locations across Nashville (West End, 100 Oaks and East Nasty), Calypso has gotcha covered if you're looking for something clean and green! And did we mention it's affordable? Nashville Scene readers have insisted that it's the "Best Cheap Eats" in town for over a decade.
Since it has a Caribbean flair, we'd recommend trying The Black Bean Salad (lettuce and tortilla chips topped with black beans, cheddar cheese, sour cream, red onions, served with barbecue sauce and your choice of chicken, beef or rice) or mix it up with a Beans & Three plate. You can't go wrong with Boija Muffins (Caribbean sweet corn bread topped with coconut), Martinique Callaloo (mustard greens with tomatoes and onions), and Spiced Sweet Potatoes.
Got a sweet tooth? They've got a whole slew of treats, choose from a Carrot Cake Bar, Tropical Lime Pie or their signature Calypso Bar (buttery cookie layer topped with toasted almonds, lime and coconut).
