Crank Up the Country Music at Tootsies
Today, 10:00a - 3:00a
They don't claim to be world famous for nothing! With three floors of live music and a rooftop overlooking Broadway, this purple-painted Honky Tonk is one-of-a-kind.
Tootsie Bess purchased the famed Orchid Lounge back in 1960, when it was still called Mom's. Thanks to a painter, a few coats of the color purple and Tootsie's warm hospitality, the place has been booming ever since. Charlie Pride, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson have all graced the first floor stage. Today, you'll find the same caliber of talent gracing the stages on all three floors—you never know who you might see before they hit it big! Artists like Chris Janson and LOCASH cut their chops performing on the Tootsies stage long before releasing chart topping hits. Besides the talent on stage, there may be a couple big timers soaking up the entertainment, the booth by the window on the first floor is reserved for VIPs.
Of course, 'cause it is one of Broadway's most famous Honky Tonks, you can bet that all three floors will be packed at night on the weekend. As long as you're not bothered by crowds or cramped bathrooms, you'll be just fine. Pro tip: Grab a table on the rooftop to soak up the rays, jam out with the band and people watch. And, if the line is long out front, just walk around back to enter through the alleyway.
