Counting House is the resident restaurant at Durham's 21c Museum Hotel, a modern art museum and luxury hotel all in one that offers many ways to go all out on a Bull City night out. Counting House (named after the building's historical role as a bank) features the works of chef Thomas Card. The menu features a wide variety of flavors, with a focus on seafood and meats. All the food is locally sourced and used to create globally-inspired tastes—like a plancha octopus appetizer with chorizo baked butter beans and salsa verde, or a burned haricot side dish with red eye aioli, crispy ham and boiled peanuts. All these masterful meals are served in a roomy dining area decked out with artistic creations hanging from the walls and ceiling. And yeah, the drinks are killing it too—make sure to check out their list of specialty cocktails and find your new favorite! Counting House is open for dinner from 5:30pm every day, while the lounge and bar open at 3pm till late late. Note: they close out every meal with a bowl of fresh fuchsia cotton candy. We regret not knowing this sooner. That sounds amazing.
