If you're feeling antsy and need to get your jitters out for some quality time with Mother Nature, look no further! Crowder's Mountain State Park is just a little ways out of Charlotte and through Gastonia. The park offers a myriad of trails differing in length, views, and overall difficulty. If this is your first time visiting, we highly recommend rolling up your sleeves and hiking up to King's Pinnacle, the highest peak in the park. While the path gets increasingly inclined—to the point that you'll wonder if it's actually vertical once you're halfway there—you'll endure about 10 seconds of elementary rock climbing and then rewarded with a stunning view of the county, surrounding trails, and the Queen City skyline far far away in the distance. When you're up there, you'll find gnarly trees and small alcoves among the rocks that make for some excellent exploring or huddling grounds for a picnic break. Bring your friends and your pups for some elevated sights and time off from the daily grind. Just one quick note, because we care about y'all—be mindful of the cliffs!
