Catch an Indie Film at the Rialto
If you think Wes Anderson films are indie, think again. Raleigh's Rialto Theater hosts an eclectic list of movies that will attract even the savviest of independent film gourmands.
The Rialto Theater at Five Points is a sweet mixture of vintage charm and retro charisma. The theater has been a Raleigh fixture since 1942 and has stayed true to the traditional movie experience: performance stage, cozy seats, and recess lighting that will make anyone wonder why florescent lighting ever became popular. Don't expect the box office hits to be playing here though. The Rialto features movies
that don't necessarily receive national attention, but are valued for their creative direction and artistic vision.
The Rialto is a cash only so come prepared with some bills both for the movie ticket and concessions. They sell wine and beer for those interested in pairing something a little more buzz-worthy than Coke with their popcorn. If you're interested in a more zany movie experience, come see the Rocky Horror Picture show, which still plays at midnight on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Fridays of each month.
