Catch a Show at Cat's Cradle: Mac McCaughan / Flesh Wounds
Ralph Lee "Mac" McCaughan is an American musician and record label owner, based in North Carolina. His main musical projects have been Superchunk since 1989 and Portastatic since the early 1990s. Formed in 1989, they were one of the bands that helped define the Chapel Hill music scene of the 1990s. Their energetic, high-velocity style and do-it-yourself ethics were influenced by punk rock.
Artists of all genres, from Nirvana and Iggy Pop to John Mayer and Trampled By Turtles, have taken this stage. If that doesn't have you amped up, don't worry, they squeeze in plenty of local artists and have become the go-to spot for album release parties in the area.
The standing-room only venue has an intimate and grungy vibe that allows you to see acts that usually take the bigger stages in a smaller setting. Grab a PBR at the bar in the back and get ready to groove. The bar is cash only, so if you're planning to imbibe come prepared—and while you're at it buy an iconic t shirt!
