Saturday, October 20th | Noon to 8:30 Carrboro Century CenterReading and Workshop with Sandra Beasley Sandra Beasley opens the final day of celebrations with her work. Beasley is the author of several books, including Theories of Falling (2008), I was the Jukebox (2010), and Don’t kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life(2011), and Count the waves (2015). This Virginia native also has a prodigious list of awards under her name including the 2009 Barnard Women Poets Prize, 2009 Friends of Poetry Prize form the Poetry Foundation, 2015 Cavafy Prize from Poetry International.Workshop with Sandra Beasley Leading a workshop after reading her work, Sandra Beasley will share her knowledge with the public. Beasley received fellowships from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the University of Mississippi.Panel on intersections We have the pleasure of hosting a panel on Intersections which features four poets who were carefully selected from over 30 applications. We are starting this year's festival off with a poet's reception at Johnny's. Feel free to socialize and talk to people/poets attending the festival during the ice cream party set for Wednesday night after the reception.


Thursday, October 18th | 6:30 pm-midnight The Station on East Main St.

Curated open mic poetry that features over 50 poets reading! We have a fantastic line up of poets for this year's Festival. The featured poets come from diverse regions, cultural backgrounds, and ideologies. Get to know these poets along with many others who make up the poetry community!

Friday, October 19th | 6:30 pm

Flyleaf books on M.L.K Jr. Blvd.

The only venue that is located outside of Carrboro for this year's festival, Flyleaf books will host the third night of celebration. North Carolina's very Poet Laureate, Jaki Shelton Green, will read along with the Hillsborough's Poet Laureate, William Davis. 

Lauren Moseley, who is a recent publisher of Big Windows, will also share her amazing work. Stay tuned for the fourth poet of Friday nights event.

Reception Full wine and cheese reception open to all. Eat, drink and visit poetry lovers.
