Y'all know we're all about getting you offline and out enjoying your city. So when we realized INTERNATIONAL SCREEN-FREE WEEK is happening April 29 - May 5, we knew we had to celebrate in a big way.
So, we're teaming up with our friends at Relay by Republic to get extra offline. Relay is an innovative screen-free phone that's designed to keep kids connected—without keeping them distracted. (Sounds like something we could all use, huh?)
Screen free week is an invitation to unplug from your screen-based entertainment (buh bye Netflix), and turn your attention to spending time with your community and exploring the world around you. So, even though we're planning to be as offline as possible this week, we'll still make sure our calendar is packed with things for you to get out and do.
And just so we're not leaving you in the dark, here are some of our favorite things that are always fun to do in Durham. Read through them, find something new you want to go try, and then put down your phone and go do it!
We hope to see you out in the world this week! If nothing else, come say hey to us in Raleigh next Friday, where we've come together with Relay and Raleigh Raw to plan a first Friday screen-free cafe for the whole family, complete with the Poetry Fox writing away on his old-school typewriter, a DIY smoothie bar, and more fun designed to 100% keep you off your phone. (Plus, Relay will be there handing out screen-blockers for your phones juuuuuuust in case you get tempted to sneak a peek.) Join us for fun and high fives all around (that's kind of like an IRL like, right?).
