Chef Michael Lee, from M Sushi and M Kokko, will be taking over the Scratch Baking location at 111 Orange St. and turning it into M Tempura, a restaurant all about tempura.
There will be seating around the bar, where you can watch the tempura being made, plus tables (total seat count maxing out around 40).
The plan is to serve a tempura course menu (think like sushi omakase, take a peek at the M Sushi Omakase here) of seasonal seafood and vegetables and served one piece at a time. There will also katsu or panko crusted meats and fish and simple rice and noodle options to finish off the meal.
M Tempura is expected to open this summer in June or July.
