Cue the memes of the dancing pumpkin head man and grab your pumpkin pie! Fall is hands down my favorite season of the year—cooler temperatures, college football, Halloween and my favorite fall menus. Here are nine fall desserts that you have to try! 'Tis the season after all!
For those of you that have never had horchata, it’s a rice milk drink that utilizes cinnamon and other spices to make it a smooth, creamy, yummy beverage. Owner Freddie makes his own horchata for this latte, and it’s dairy free, vegan and delicious. It’s seasonal, so grab one before they’re gone!
Midwood is home to some delicious brisket, BBQ, and Southern fixin’s and their seasonal dessert menu is just as special. The apple-bourbon pie a la mode is a cinnamon apple dream, complete with a caramel drizzle. Served warm, it will melt in your mouth. Midwood also offers a pecan cobbler that is off the chain, and served with fresh whipped cream.
All hail the magic pumpkin! App Cookie Company has always been known for delivering the people the cookies you dream about, like the 'Ron Swanson' complete with bacon and Jack Daniels in it. They recently launched their fall flavors of pumpkin pie and apple pie. Pro tip: Order a few and put some vanilla ice cream in between two cookies for a fall whoopee pie!
Amelie’s new fall menu is the epitome of everything I love about fall. The pumpkin cream cheese Danish is a spin on the classic pastry with a pumpkin-pie filling. Pair it with one of their fall menu drinks, like the apple cider French soda or the praline latte.
You’ve probably heard of Ninety's infamous macaron ice cream sandwiches, the yumee-buns (donuts filled with ice cream), and the delicious, Instagram-worthy milkshakes. It's a no-brainer to go and check out their newest flavor, s'mores! Who needs a campfire to make s’mores when Ninety’s can make it in a delicious ice cream form?
Look how cute these fall macarons are! This French café is known for its amazing pastries and coffee, and these little guys were just introduced to the menu. Light and airy, they are spot on with the candy corn and pumpkin flavors. If you want to try some of the best macarons Charlotte has to offer, go here.
Brakeman’s knows what’s up. Check out their “pumpkin pie in a cup” chai lattes, which taste just like the actual pie with notes of cinnamon. The smores milkshake aka s’milkshake, Vermont Maple latte reminiscent of maple syrup, and the Panthers blueberry soda are all available on the fall seasonal menu! All are decadent little shrines to the fall season. The store itself is a gem in Matthews and worth the 20-minute drive.
Behold, the sweet potato casserole and apple crisp cupcakes. Sweet potato casserole is one of my all time favorite dishes, and for it to be in cupcake form is rather remarkable. I’ve always loved the mashed sweet potato dish covered in brown sugar, butter and melty marshmallows. SmallCakes nailed this cute little cupcake just in time for autumn!
Joe’s Doughs is packed every morning with customers trying to bring home a dozen of their incredible donuts. They tend to sell out pretty quick, so it’s wise to stop in during the morning. Pair an iced Enderly Coffee with one of their new fall flavor donuts, like maple walnut and old fashioned pumpkin, and treat yourself.
